Hasbro Star Wars QnA: The Answers
Reported By - Pete - 23:56:10 (GMT)
A little late but the answers from our last round of Hasbro questions are in. Our thanks and those of the UK readers go out to Hasbro for including TPU into the QnA sessions. Read on to check out the answers...

Q1) A "Vintage" line of figures has been rumoured for this year, can you give us any more detailed info as what figures we are likely to see, the card design, number of figures and how long this line we run for? Any pictures of figures and or card would be nice too :)

A1) We can confirm that Legacy/Droid Factory has indeed been replaced by a new Vintage line. Unlike past runs of Vintage, there will be no clamshell and
the suggested retail will be $7.99 US. The line is slated right now to run two years. We will be gauging collector reaction carefully to see whether this is something that should continue beyond that. As for the
card design - it is identical to all previous versions of vintage, both front and back.

Q2) Since the relaunch of the Star Wars action figures back in '95 they have improved dramatically, the cards, the sculpts, the likeness, the accessories and articulation. What plans are there to further improve the figures currently on the drawing board? Can we expect to see any electronics inside the figures for sounds or perhaps more realistic clothes made of very thin vinyl for example... what is the next big thing we can look forward to?

A2) The current figure aesthetic is as advanced as we feel it needs to be. We feel we are at a new standard for the aesthetics of the sculpt and the articulation of figures where they work perfectly together to satisfy the needs of the collecting base. As far as advances you suggest, the technology doesn't exist to push electronics in the kids of torsos that we use in our figures (what you see in the lights and sounds R2-D2 is about as small as we can make the housing). As for soft goods, we are always looking for ways to improve them but there is not a systematic push across the line to make this a major focal point. They tend to be secondary to the line for the most part.

Due to TPU being down with technical problems last week we have not sent any questions for the current round. Fear not we'll catch up next time so send in your questions to the above address...
