New Dune Movie To "Start From Scratch"
Reported By - Pete - 23:58:05 (GMT)
News on the remake of the Frank Herbert classic Dune...

French director Pierre Morel has decided to go back to the drawing board for the new version of Frank Herbert's epic saga Dune which he is preparing for Paramount Pictures, jettisoning the work done by Peter Berg and Joshua Zetumer.

Although he couldn't announce his co-writer on the new script, the Taken director explained to IGN.com that "Peter had an approach which was not mine at all, and we're starting over again. I don't think we're going to keep any elements of the Peter Berg script."

Morel is keen to remove audience memories of the 1984 version. "It's not a remake of David Lynch's movie," he said firmly. "We're doing a re-reading, a brand new approach on the book, a very true approach to the book, the original material."

Work starts on the new script in February, with Morel not committing to a delivery date, or whether the movie will eventually be shot in 3-D. "I'd push for that, but I don't know," he admitted.
