A subduded afair this year and a odd because of the new location.

From Toy Fair 2010

Check out the full report below.

Check out the few pictures above, you weren't allowed to take many as normal. Onto a brief rundown of what caught my eye.

Hasbro

I was taken round by a nice lady who normally repesented independant retailers.

Iron Man 2

Was told how the first toy lines success caught them by surprize, so this year has a much greater range. 3 1/2 inch figures fitting in with marvel range scale. Lots more role play including his chest light that clips to your tshirt. Cool.

When asked about the scale, she explained that it was due to children wanting all lines to interect. Iron Man can meet and fight Darth Vader of example. I asked about cost and she suggested the change was not cost driven.

Transformers.

Movie stuff on display including leader Starscream and Bludgon. Game tie in figues from War on Cybertron where on the stand - present where Prime and Bumblebee, dulxue size only is the only price point for this range. Both where in cybertron vehicle mode.

Picture above shows power core combiners. She described them as 5 legend sized figures that combine. They look great.

Battle Ops bumblebee on show price between leader and supreme points - £60ish - Looked cool.

RPMs where a surprise, the hot wheel sized cars. New higher price point called Stealth Force. The cars transformed into a battlemode with gun etc, poping out. The Prime was moterized with sound effects. I was told Bay liked this and is planning on using the idea.

Star Wars.

Loads of new figures, gimick this year is a battle game. Each figure comes with a base and card. Which allows them to battle. Think Top Trumps with a dice. No change in price either. An interesting idea.

New AT-AT very cool, was told will be a very limited item for November time. Stock to collectors first then general retail. More roleplay grevious lightsabre which spins and a new fxs with a removable blade. I want that!

Spin masters

Almost passed this one by when I saw a full sized lightcycle in the middle of the stand. It was awesome.

Tron Legacy toy range included

3.75 figs and larger. Character called CPU was on package. Was at least 6 different figures all with some sort of lightup feature when you place them on a base.

Light and go cycle was interesting looked like a quick charge toy that zipped along the ground. The old version would have had a rip cord.

Edge light disk was basically a light up frisebee, which was Trons weapon in the orginal film. It looked good, nice to have that roleplay toy. Baton launcher was the light cycle handlebar which launched a small bike out of it. There was a range of small dicast vehicles. A car and a flying thing.

Vivid

Toy story 3 means that they are adding more to the Collection Range. These are the Movie Acurate toys, Bullseye, Jessie and Lotso, a pink bear from the 3rd film. Klip Kitz won an award which are plastic, precoloured snap fit kits that lock together. Their was a Woddy and Buzz version on the stand.

Character

Nothing amazing this year - Dr Who was under tight wraps by appointment only, so saw a poster and nothing more. :o(

Lego

Lots of new stuff, most interesting was the replacement for Bionicle, Hero Factory. There is a trailer online for this now. This will be supported by a 4 part tv show and an interactive website. The story is much more human, more superhero inspired. Preston Stormer is the goodie leader and his team includes a girl. Evil leader was Von Nebular.

New lines where
Prince of Perisa which was ok but not mind blowing lots of buildings and figures only 5 sets.
Harry Potter relaunch some very nice minifigs Belatrix is great. Only 100% new kit is Weasly house all others are popular old kits that have been reworked.
Final Lego item was the new Minifigure Range - these will retail at 1.99 and each bag will contain a random figure. These are aimed at the Match Attacks and other collectable pocket money toys. Their are 16 figure in series 1 and a futher 16 in series 2. The picture below is series 1, comming in series 2 was a vamprie and a baywatch style figure.
