The answers are in, a little late, but here they are. Thanks as always to Hasbro and Hunter PR for running the show and including TPU.
Q1. With some great new cantina patrons out now I was wondering if or when it is likely we will see updates to some of the earlier characters like Ponda Baba, Momaw, Labria, Muftak, Dr Evazen, Wuher and Duros? All could do with some improvement in articulation to fit in better.
A1. We have some resculpts planned for an early wave in 2011 at this point. Two of the ones you ask about (Ponda Baba and Dr. Avazan) are in the lineup. Wuher would be the next we would get to after that. The rest are much lower on the list and will likely not be updated for a long time.
Q2. There has been a steady increase of EU figures being made, which has been very welcome, are we likely to see this continue to include maybe whole waves of EU characters? Also is there any chance that we will see characters from Shadows of the Empire like Dash, Leebo or Guri? Out of interest do sales of EU characters sell as well as characters from the movies?
A2. It has been a good run, but we're sorry to report that the number of EU characters will be scaled back going forward. After the final EU wave of the red/white Legacy collection next Spring, there will be a hiatus of EU characters in the basic figure lineup for quite a while while we focus on the core movies. With the demise of the Comic Packs, this removes a significant venue for important and interesting EU characters. We will be continuing to look at exclusives as a format for EU, and the video game focused packs will continue at Toys 'R Us, with a great pair of The Force Unleashed multi-packs coming next Spring. We love the EU ourselves and will bring out occasional additional EU-focused items as we match an idea with retail interest. Some EU figures have done very well, while others have struggled when compared to the collector-targeted movie figures. It is still a very fertile area of focus for us, but we have to be careful on our selections in an era where collectors are being much more cautious with their spending.
Q3. This is a cheeky request for any images of anything that has not yet been seen in any detail of anything that is currently in the making... I don't want to be specific as I want to cover all bases. Go on give a little British fan site a scoop ;)
A3. We're sorry that we don't have anything to show. We are still working to release everything that we showed a little over four months ago at Comic Con, and any Spring waves are still some ways off. At this point, the next time we will have new news is going to be Toy Fair in February.
Due to personal reasons the last round of Q's was missed, apologises for that, but we will catch up on the next round. |
